Day 01 - Arrival & Family Welcome

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to a boutique coastal hotel in Negombo. Spend the afternoon settling in and recovering from the journey at a relaxed pace. As evening arrives, glide through mangrove waterways aboard a traditional lagoon boat, then gather for a delicious welcome dinner showcasing the finest of Sri Lanka’s beloved seafood.

 

Day 02 - Wilpattu Safari & Anuradhapura

Set out early for Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s largest and wildest reserve, for a half-day safari with impressively low vehicle density. Spot leopards, sloth bears and water buffalo in pristine wilderness. Transfer to Anuradhapura for a guided bicycle tour through the UNESCO ancient city, exploring magnificent stupas and the sacred Bodhi Tree until evening.

 

Day 03 - Sunrise at Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Watch the sun rise majestically from the summit of the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress, guided by an expert storyteller who brings this 5th-century citadel to vivid life. In the afternoon, enjoy a breezy catamaran ride across the shimmering village lake. Optionally unwind with a soothing Ayurvedic shoulder massage at the resort to ease tired muscles.

 

Day 04 - The Great Elephant Gathering

Head to Minneriya National Park for the awe-inspiring ‘Gathering’, hundreds of Asian elephants converging around the reservoir in a natural spectacle (seasonally available July–October). A naturalist-led birdwatching session spotlights endemic species, including the stunning Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, for keen young wildlife enthusiasts.

 

Day 05 - Dambulla, Spice Gardens & Kandy

Explore the vibrant Dambulla Cave Temple with a certified guide whose storytelling brings the 2,000-year-old Buddhist murals gloriously to life for the whole family. Drive scenically through fragrant spice gardens to Kandy. Spend the evening at a colourful Kandyan cultural dance performance, then stroll around the reflective Kandy Lake in the warm tropical night air.

 

Day 06 - Sacred Kandy & the Tea Train

Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and wander through Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, where giant bamboo groves and tropical orchids delight visitors of all ages. Board the iconic Tea Country Express, a world-renowned highland rail journey through cloud-kissed tea estates, before arriving in Nuwara Eliya for a refreshing overnight at a charming hill-country hotel.

 

Day 07 - Dawn Birds & World's End

Start at dawn with birdwatching at Horton Plains, listening for the enchanting calls of the Whistling Thrush and Dull-blue Flycatcher. Hike through mist and montane forest to the World’s End viewpoint, where the plateau drops 880 metres into valleys below. Enjoy herbal high tea at a colonial estate before transferring down to scenic Ella for the night.

 

Day 08 - Nine Arch Bridge & Southern Drive

Photograph the Nine Arch Bridge, a 1920s colonial viaduct fringed by tea bushes and jungle. Tackle the family-friendly hike to Little Adam’s Peak for rewarding panoramic views of Ella’s emerald-draped valleys. Drive south through the breathtaking landscape, pausing at the Ravana Falls, before reaching the coast and settling into your comfortable Mirissa accommodation.

 

Day 09 - Blue Whales & Turtle Nesting Beach

Board a certified, responsibly operated vessel before sunrise for a Blue Whale and Spinner Dolphin watching experience. These gentle giants surface dramatically just metres away, a family memory that lasts a lifetime. Spend the afternoon leisurely on Mirissa’s palm-fringed beach, with an optional evening visit to Rekawa turtle nesting beach for wild observation.

 

Day 10 - Unawatuna Family Beach Day

Day 11 - Galle Fort & Hiriketiya Farewell

Walk the ancient ramparts and colonial streets of Galle Fort on a guided heritage tour revealing its Dutch and Portuguese history. Continue to the relaxed surf village of Hiriketiya for a blissful final beach stay. Spend the afternoon soaking in the sun, sharing stories and savouring the island’s last golden moments before tomorrow’s departure journey begins.

 

Day 12 - Departure

Your private vehicle whisks the family comfortably along the Southern Expressway back to Bandaranaike International Airport, with scenic comfort stops planned along the way.
