Yala is Sri Lanka’s most famous and most visited wildlife reserve, a diverse ecosystem of dry zone forests, scrublands, wetlands and coastal dunes in the southeast of the island. Yala has the highest leopard density of any protected area in the world, and sightings of these magnificent cats, lounging in trees, hunting across open plains, or moving through the undergrowth at dusk, are a special experience.
