Harithra Journeys

Sri Lanka’s coastline is a nesting ground for five of the world’s seven sea turtle species, and participation in responsible turtle conservation is one of the most meaningful experiences available to visitors. Our turtle experiences are designed around educational and conservation benefits, and we partner with ethical operators and certified hatcheries that prioritise the animals’ welfare and natural behaviour over the visitor experience. At locations such as Rekawa Beach and coastal hatcheries in the southwest, guests can observe wild nesting turtles under supervision, following strict no-touch, no-chase guidelines that ensure the turtles are never disturbed during this critical process. Hatchling release programmes are conducted under the guidance of conservation staff, who ensure that every interaction respects the animals’ instincts and natural pace.
