This early morning marine adventure departs from the picturesque fishing harbour at Mirissa, Sri Lanka’s premier whale watching destination, for a three-to-four-hour offshore expedition in search of the Indian Ocean’s most magnificent marine mammals. The waters south of Mirissa are among the most productive in the world for blue whale sightings between December and April, when these colossal animals migrate close to shore on their seasonal journey; spinner dolphins, sperm whales, and Bryde’s whales are also frequently encountered. We partner exclusively with responsible, certified operators who adhere to international guidelines on approach distances and vessel behaviour around marine mammals, ensuring that every encounter is safe, ethical, and genuinely respectful of the animals.
