This unique cultural day tour celebrates the life and legacy of Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s greatest architect and one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Tropical Modernism – through visits to several of his most celebrated built works in and around Colombo and Bentota. The tour visits Bawa’s restored Colombo townhouse at 33rd Lane, a labyrinthine private home that became one of the city’s great architectural curiosities – before travelling south to Bentota to explore Lunuganga, Bawa’s extraordinary country estate where the boundaries between architecture and landscape were dissolved across decades of painstaking design. The tour is led by a guide with specialist knowledge of Bawa’s work, contextualising each site within the broader narrative of his life, philosophy, and enduring influence on contemporary Asian architecture. The tour includes private vehicle transport, guide fees, and entrance to selected properties; meals and personal expenses are not included, and access to Lunuganga is subject to availability and advance booking.
