Wilpattu is Sri Lanka’s largest national park and one of its most rewarding wildlife destinations, a vast, remote wilderness of ancient lake beds, dense scrub jungle, and open grasslands in the northwest of the island, renowned for its high density of Sri Lankan leopards and notably low visitor numbers. This full-day safari departs early from Colombo or Negombo to make the most of the morning hours, the coolest time of day and the period when wildlife activity is highest, with two safari drives bookending a picnic lunch at the park rest house. Your experienced wildlife guide will interpret the tracks, calls, and signs of animal presence throughout the drive, maximising the chance of sightings of leopard, sloth bear, elephant, crocodile, and the park’s exceptional birdlife. The tour includes private vehicle transfer to and from Colombo or Negombo, park entrance fees, jeep safari hire, an expert naturalist guide, and a packed lunch; personal expenses and tips are not included.
