This full-day journey follows the scenic southwestern coastline to Galle, Sri Lanka’s best-preserved colonial port city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site of outstanding historic significance. The morning drive south follows the famous “Marine Drive” coastal road, offering beautiful ocean views before arriving at the magnificent 17th-century Dutch fort, where cobblestone streets, colonial-era churches, boutique galleries, and the famous lighthouse create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Sri Lanka. A guided walk through the fort’s ramparts and historic lanes explores the layers of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial history embedded in every building, while the afternoon allows time to explore independently, browse local artisan shops, and enjoy the charming cafe culture within the fort walls. The tour includes private vehicle transport, an expert guide, entrance fees, and a traditional lunch; personal shopping, additional refreshments, and tips are not included.
